Music Director Job Description
This position is considered a salary position with three weeks of paid personal days that consist of three Sunday morning services, three Sunday evening services, three choir rehearsals, and three Wednesday evening services. Additional absence will be acceptable provided the Director of Music makes arrangements for a suitable substitute. All absences shall be coordinated through the Pastor and recorded by the Office Administrator. If a church event is cancelled, this will not affect the Director of Music’s vacation time.

Direct the planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of a comprehensive Music Ministry.

Work with the Music Committee in determining music ministry goals, organization, leadership, facilities and equipment, finances, and administrative process.

Assist the pastor in planning congregational services of the church, two services on Sunday, Wednesday night prayer services, and will select the music used.

Provide music for special projects, ministries, and other church related activities in cooperation with the appropriate individuals or groups.

Direct music groups and congregational singing.

Supervise the work of all music leaders in the music mission.

Work in cooperation with the Personnel Committee and Music Committee in selecting accompanists and other musicians who serve in the church music program.

Coordinate schedules of music groups or individuals in the function of the church.

Supervise maintenance of and additions to the music library and equipment; provide and purchase supplies and other music equipment in cooperation with the church Music Committee.

Encourage, schedule, and coordinate the use of instrumentalists and vocalists in groups or as individuals.

Conduct or obtain another director for revivals.

In cooperation with the Music Committee, prepare an annual budget to be presented to the Finance Committee by November of each year. Administer that budget.

Perform other duties as assigned by either the Personnel Committee or Music Committee.

Salary will be based on education and experience.
